The price (£67 on the official store, cheaper elsewhere) and sturdiness of Clarks footwear mean they’re impeccable for daily use, with the crepe sole everlasting. The official site has nine colourways to choose from; some suede, some leather.
Opening Ceremony
At three times the price of the Clarks (£150+), New York-based Opening Ceremony provide a much smarter alternative. Produced with a leather sole, they can’t withstand a beating [for the record, I would never attempt to beat anybody*] as well as the Clarks but, what they lack in permanency, they more than make up aesthetically.
You could just as easily pair them with fancy trews as you with could jeans.
Three pairs take my fancy: navy suede (pictured), black leather and caramel leather.

Common Projects
Although produced in Italy, Common Projects is another company based out of the Big Apple. As with all CP footwear, these desert boots are minimalistic (two lace holes), luxurious and have absolutely no external branding (save for the obligatory gold stamp on the heel – serial number/size/colour code respectively.)
The soft suede and rubber sole mean they’re perfect for a casual affair (no Gordon Ramsey.)
The white pair are my all time favourite desert boot; no fuss, no frills, no furbelows. They’re now nigh on impossible to locate, having been released in the Spring.
Various online retailers still have stock of the grey and black colourways, whilst for £169 you can cop the beige at oki-ni.
Shofolk
An honourable mention goes to these Armstrong brown (sorry, ‘bitter chocolate’) Shofolk chukkas.
They feature a suede back panel, soft leather upper and contrasting white sole. Less sleek than the Common Projects, they also have a 2-hole lace formation, which results in a tidy appearance.
